“The body benefits from movement, and the mind benefits from stillness.”

Welcome to the Yoga Studio at Pursue Wellness!
The roots of yoga can be traced back to over to 5,000 years ago.
The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit word yuj, which means “union” or “to yoke”. This refers to the practice of yoga as a methodology to unite body, mind and spirit. The practice of postures, breathing, concentration, sensory withdrawl and meditation help lead us to a unified state of awareness and improved vitality.
Modern science is discovering what the ancient yogi’s intuitively knew. The benefits of a regular yoga practice are being recognized by the scientific community to have benefits such as:
-
-
- Improved self-regulation and resilience to stress. This is being found to reduce the impact of stress on our nervous system and can lower blood pressure, reduce feeling of anxiety and depression, and improve relationship with ourselves and others.
- Yoga helps regulate the endocrine and digestive system.
- Breathing practices, postures and contemplative practices associated with yoga strengthen and balance the nervous system
- Improved cognitive function and concentration.
- Increases physical balance, strength, flexibility, coordination in activities associated with everyday living as well as athletic performance.
- Reduces inflammation.

Our classes are alignment-based using props and The Great Yoga Wall. The wall can be an important tool for advancing your practice, correcting underlying muscular skeletal imbalances, cultivating strength, stability and flexibility. By using gravity as a natural form of resistance, the yoga wall allows you to safely create space and release tension. It is exceptionally beneficial for spinal health. Using the straps provides traction and decompression of the spine. All levels.
